major update-age

Well the last time I did a real update was about a month ago, so a lot has happened. Right now it's 4 in the morning and we're leaving for Mexico in an hour or less, so I'm not sleeping. So here's what's been happening in my life recently:

-Marianna from Finland stayed with us for 4 weeks in July. She was very nice, although quiet, and I didn't get to spend much time with her cuz of work and her trips and such. Normally I join in on a few of the trips, but not this summer. July 23rd was the International Faire, where you taste foods that kids from the different countries made (sooo good!) and watch skits. The next day before she left we took her to the LACMA for the King Tut exhibit because she loves Egypt, and then on the way back we took her to the bus stop. Here's a pic of her:




-UC Davis - July 10-13 I went up to Davis for My summer advising. The first night we drove up to to my aunt and uncle's in San Jose, and I ended up driving a lot more than my mom, and found that I love driving long distances. Davis was extremely hot (over 100 degrees) and we had to do a lot of walking around the campus because it's so huge. Advising was really nice, and my roomate Rosario was nice too. I took the math and spanish placement tests. oh, and the dining commons are sooo awesome! The last day I signed up for classes, and I now have Mathematics 21B, Physics 9HA, Cultural Anthropology, a freshmen seminar about stormwater runoff or something, and a running class. I'm a little worried about calculus and physics, maybe i'll drop to an easier class, but I like my schedule cuz I never start until 10 or 11 every day.

-Work at the movie theater is going well, I've just been working at the box office selling tickets for almost a month now. I'd like a bit more variety, but box is fun and always nice and air conditioned! It's just frustrating when I have to ask for student IDs and people try to sneak into R movies, cuz I have to be mean and people don't like me. Last week I got commended for being really nice and friendly and doing everything right when my manager's boss came, and I also got a free meal at The Habit.

-The past weekend my aunt and two of my cousins came to visit from Las Vegas. Friday and Sunday I worked so I didn't get to see them as much, but my sisters and cousins and I went to Six Flags on Saturday, and it was so much fun! I hadn't been there in ages. Here's a pic:




-Dan - Last Monday when I was working selling tickets these two guys who were smoking bought some tickets, and then one told me I was beautiful and asked for my number. I was in a good mood, but I didn't think he would really call me (blame my bad self-image), so I didn't think any more of it. But Wednesday he called me and asked to hang out, so I agreed cuz I'll always meet someone new. It turns out he's only 15 and lives in Simi and goes to Royal. We met at the mall first, where he was very nice, and I was quite surprised by how much he likes me. Then we went to Blockbuster to rent a movie, but couldn't without a card, and went to the Janss to hang out and talk and then watch The Island. Hopefully I'll see him when I get back...

-Now I'll be leaving for Mexico in maybe 45 min to an hour, so I'll try to contact everyone after I get back! I dunno how much computer access I'll get back, and I won't be able to call. :(
